A life captured

Dec 6, 2012 | Mobile & Web

I harbor a mini addiction to Kickstarter, the crowd-funding entrepreneurial site where anyone can throw up a video of a great idea they’re looking to fund and backers chip in some cash to help support and often end up with a greatly reduced priced product.

The Memoto Lifelogging Camera is one such project that I’m very excited about. As a photographer I’m intrigued by the notion of capturing moments of meaning in every day life. If I’m lucky I have a camera with me, be it my DSLR, Compact or Phone Camera. However capturing a moment relies on me being quick enough to grab my camera or even thinking to do so.

Memoto is an always on camera, taking pictures, logging your GPS position and allowing you to browse through your days in a fraction of a second. It’s a concept that has been talked about a lot over the years but never really brought to market in a meaningful way at a reasonable price point. At $279 the Memoto is not cheap and may indeed have some teething problems but the promise of what it could be capable of is too much to resist. Get this for the geek in your life this holiday and they’ll be smiling from ear to ear!
