WHY IS IT RELEVANT?
Embedding a QR code into a headstone isn’t earth-shattering, but remember the movie The Final Cut with Robin Williams? Neither do I, but this promotional video from Quiring Monuments reminded me of that film’s trailer and leads one to wonder about the future of graveyards. How would a grave visit change with augmented reality, social networking, and wi-fi integrated into the headstone? What would it mean to leave virtual flowers – or messages – by the grave? And what does “durable” technology mean in this context? I mean, death lasts forever, right?
