What’s That Smell Coming From Your iPhone?
Oct 24, 2012 | Mobile & Web
WHAT IS IT?
With technology today from your smartphone you can communicate via phone call, text message, email, Facebook, Instagram and a bevy of additional social media services, but there’s one thing you can’t do—send a smell. Japan’s Chako Perfume Co. is about to change that with the release of it’s new iPhone accessory called Chat Perf that, when triggered by another phone, will send out a puff of scent.
WHY IS IT RELEVANT?
The wafting aroma of fresh baked cinnamon rolls may make you think of early Sunday mornings or the alluring bouquet of gardenia and plumeria flowers may take you back to your Hawaiian vacation. There are powerful memories trapped within the intoxicating scents that surround us.
If put to good use, this technology could become a new way to entice customers into stores, movie theaters or restaurants. For example, every time a BBQ pit master pulls out his freshly smoked batch of brisket, he could then send that delicious scent to all of his regular customers to make them want to come in for a sandwich.
